Cats

Filed under: Odd News — by lvambrandrw @ 5:11 pm

Yesterday New Hampshire police found 60 cats and a man in a storage facility. The cats all suffered from respitatory infections.

Police are deciding whether or not to press animal abuse charges.

I am undecided on whether or not this man should be charged. On the positive the man was giving them a place to stay and feeding them properly. On the other hand, they were not clean which gave them the infections.

I do not know what I would do in this situation, because I would feel bad if I had to give the animals away or let them live in the wild.

  1. I hope they do not press charges. It sounds like he was doing what he could for the cats, but the situation got out of hand. I did not realize how sensitive to smell cats are. With the enclosed facilities, and no proper litter disposal, the smell must have been overwhelming. I wonder how the man could stand to live in the conditions as well. Maybe they are dealing with an elderly person, or someone with limited mental capabilities. They said 50 are rescued and 50 more are awaiting rescue. That’s a lot of cats. Spay and Neuter Your Animals!

  2. I agree that they should not press charges against this man. I think that he was taking care of the animals and himself the best he could. It takes someone with a big heart to take in all of those cats and care for them. He probably could not afford the vet bills that it would have taken to get the cats medicine. I have three dogs, and know how expensive they are to take to the vet. As stated befroe, the best thing to do is spay and neuter your animals. I wonder who is going to say that everyday since Bob Barker is retired!

  3. I have been guilty of having at least nine cats in my home at one time because of my inability to turn the animals away. It does get to be impossible for adequate care for so many animals. I feel for cats, and the man who didn’t have the heart to turn them away. I hope he doesn’t get charged.

  4. I have to disagree with the others; I think he should be charged.
While it was kind-hearted of him to take the cats in, anyone with any common sense should know that it’s impossible to properly care for 60 cats in one living area. He could have turned them over to an animal shelter where they would either be cared for, or put out of their misery. Respiratory infections are not fun for animals; I once had a hairless rat that died from one (they are very susceptible to them). They would have been much happier and most likely healthier not living there.
